Angie Koops wins NZ national titles

Angie Koops image- Courtesy of NZ surfing

Angie Koops (Kaikoura) smashed the Women’s final leaving the other three surfers ‘combo’d’ (requiring a combination of scores of 10.0 points).  Koops Scored 15.0 to win the final with 8.0 and 7.0 point rides.  The final was a first for Koops who has specifically travelled back from Australia to contest the event.  While in Australia Koops has been studying at Southern Cross University completing a sports management/surfing studies course.  Her increased time in the water and good waves she has been experiencing has most definitely aided her surfing.
Koops had impressed the judges all week consistently surfing to the highest scores in her heat.  Her domination of the final today was a continuation of her form.
In second place was Daisy Thomas (Chch) scoring an 8.15 point total heat total.  Thomas was another standout throughout the week but the tough conditions today proved too challenging and luck was not on her side in her bid to find the best waves.  Auckland’s Mischa Davis placed third in the final with fellow Auckland surfer young Rosa Thompson in fourth.

one-wood

Well, Its almost ready to get wet... When the surf settles here. we have had a miserable week of rain. The water now resembles chocolate milk. I will be more worried about the floating sticks & logs in the water than the bull sharks washed out of the canals! i sanded, Pinlined and Glossed the Quad yesterday in between building a new blank storage facility in my factory. I couldnt wait to finish it so i skipped a Milo surf and cut back and buffed it this morning before i opened the shop. Maybe one day next week i will get time to try it out in some clean peaks at Tugun!

Single and Pink

Heres a little glimpse of a resin swirl single fin for one of our Team Girls, Sheridan Shields. Sheridan loves to surf Single fins and Twinnies at Snapper rocks. I am sure it helps get waves in the crowds there too!

Got Wood?

Dave has been working on a Paulonia (Kiri) wood Quad. It is made of solid pieces then rough shaped. Then we pulled it apart and cut out most of the centre leaving ribs. This pic is as we are starting to glue it back together. We will post some more pics as it gets finished in the next few Days.
