Got Wood? Want to Alaia?

We got busy on a flat Day and made a new Alaia for the Demo Range at the Shop. this one is made of Paulonia and measures 6'6"x16 1/2"x 3/4". perfect for most average size surfers. these pics are taken just before Jamie took it out for a christening! He came back from surfing in front of the shop at Tugun with smiles ear to ear. catching waves that you would struggle to get any sort of joy on with a normal board.

Hands up for the DK8-Kwad in Indo

Dave and I have been working on a few new concepts and testing them in the waves where I live in Bali, Indonesia. On Dave’s recent trip to Bali we worked closely on fine tuning a board design that would be suitable for a broad range of conditions. The development we have been working on from last year. The idea is to come up with a single board that is light and maneuverable in small beach break waves while maintaining integral strength and function for riding medium to large size waves over reef. We are getting close to perfecting this design and we tested a few boards at various locations on the island, trying to get a real feel for each board to discover both the positive and negative attributes. the DK8 is our result... This is a 6'2" roundtail DK at Belangan. We surfed this board in small 1-2 foot beachbreaks then right up to this day at Belangan... ALL ROUND BOARD...! 10/10.

Hull Keel Twin Test

Hi Dave,

I tested the Hull Keel Twin or as I like to think of it, (decaying wooden ironing board) on the weekend at a little place between the Pass and wategoes. I guess the surf was about 4ft and pretty much perfect.
The board looks like it should be really loose but it goes nothing like what you expect. I found that I could draw really long powerful lines and get quite vertical on it. It seemed to hold its rail very well, due to the fins being right at the very back of the board.

When i understood that the board is not a fast trimming board due to the V through the centre, I made the faster sections with ease by surfing it like a normal shortboard. Quite an experience riding it I can tell you.
Definitely worth riding as you can have a lot of fun with it.
Once the V is tweaked a bit to allow faster trimming...which i understand you have already done, will be a great little board to play around with.
Catch you in the water.

J-LO comes to DIVERSE

WE have a new odd surfboard to add to our range of demos! The J-LO model
this one is 8 foot long. And yes it is narrower in the middle! The board
catches waves like a 9'6" and turns like a 7' footer. Nose rides like a
classic and has 4 fins to turn tight and lessen drag. Probably on of the
funnest boards your going to ride in ordinary waves even in good surf...
Come and try it... Soon!

feedback is welcome!

Hey Dave, my name is mitch.

We met in late november last year in the shop when i trialled, ur twin and quad fish models. which i instantly loved and immediately purchased a 5' 9' quad. Just wanted to say, man i love this board!

I have surfed it in a range of conditions and swells and it has performed sweetly.... during a recent cyclone up here in karratha, it really pumped in the solid swells and am keen to take out to the reefs of the montebellos in june. I have tuned the boys in on your boards and equipment and we are thinking of ordering some DK quad models for this trip. If I order a board can you organise to send over here to WA??

Spewin i missed the fish fry, looked like a great event!

Have attached a foto my son's first wave at the alley on your diverse quad fish!

All the best, keep up the good work!

Twin-what the HULL?

Around the Currumbin fishfry i was loaned a Twin-hull by American shaper Ian Zamora. i had not ridden one like that before. The bottom is very rolled in the nose like a Hull.. the tail was a light concave. the Fins were more paralell than i use generally and the outline was quite straight. I had fun on it a decided to do one with my own thoughts and ideas into it. So i made a 5'8" x 20 1/2" x 2 1/2". This pic is the result and after two surfs on it i am having so much fun. Jamie (shop manager) Rode it today also and couldnt ring me quick enough to tell me how much fun he had on it, and how far he was going on all the waves at the superbank this arvo! I glassed it my self and call the resin art capuccino... call in to the shop one day and your well come to have a go on it!
