Alaias for Bali

This Is the Alaia I Made in Bali, I went to a wood factory on the side of
the road on the way to Caangu. Took it to a shed with a planer and a Sander
and walla... Wood for Riding. Some Tung oil from the Green tree eco store
on Sunset road sealed it up to make it waterproof! Enjoy Nature...

Wooden Deck-Skin

We have some nice Qld hardwood Veneers to add a touch of class & a lot of
strength to your board. Look out over the next few weeks for some nice
examples...

Got Wood? Want to Alaia?

We got busy on a flat Day and made a new Alaia for the Demo Range at the Shop. this one is made of Paulonia and measures 6'6"x16 1/2"x 3/4". perfect for most average size surfers. these pics are taken just before Jamie took it out for a christening! He came back from surfing in front of the shop at Tugun with smiles ear to ear. catching waves that you would struggle to get any sort of joy on with a normal board.

wood chop

chopsticks_canoe

wow. if you like my wood board, then this guy is amazing...
Shuhei Ogawara spent two years of his life collecting 7,382 wood disposable chopsticks from his office cafeteria, glued them together in three months, and applied a polyester coat to build this 13-foot long, 66-pound canoe.
so... who wants a surfboard that smells like ginger?

wood sounds cool...!

resonance.JPG

Here is an example of things that can be done with surfboards made of wood. this is Tom Wegener being taught about the sound properties of wood and surfboards. the Teacher is a guy who is an amazing musician who is a professor of Music. he is currently assembling a orgestra of conch players...!

one-wood

one-wood.JPG

Well, Its almost ready to get wet... When the surf settles here. we have had a miserable week of rain. The water now resembles chocolate milk. I will be more worried about the floating sticks & logs in the water than the bull sharks washed out of the canals! i sanded, Pinlined and Glossed the Quad yesterday in between building a new blank storage facility in my factory. I couldnt wait to finish it so i skipped a Milo surf and cut back and buffed it this morning before i opened the shop. Maybe one day next week i will get time to try it out in some clean peaks at Tugun!

Got Wood?

Dave has been working on a Paulonia (Kiri) wood Quad. It is made of solid pieces then rough shaped. Then we pulled it apart and cut out most of the centre leaving ribs. This pic is as we are starting to glue it back together. We will post some more pics as it gets finished in the next few Days.
